Dial in Your Gear - Be ready for the coming season
It's too cold to ride right now, why not mess with your gear? You'll be doing something related to wakeboarding, while preparing for the riding season.
Stance Width... Changing your stance before the season starts instead of during the season reduces the awkward feeling. A wider stance will give you more stability, but can also give you a more jarring feeling in your hips & back on harder landing. Stand width is different for every rider, & it's something that you have to try & then adjust when the season starts.
Stance Angles... Most wakeboarders ride ducked out nowadays because of switch-stance landing & riding. Ducked is the most natural stance for your legs & will allow them to bend more freely. The amount you duck your stance should reflect how you stand on the ground. It's different from person to person, so if you're sharing boards make sure to adjust to your preferred angles or you could strain a knee.
Handle... at the beginning of the season your calluses aren't as prominent as they used to be. Make sure the size & texture of your handle meets your comfort needs. Remember, the more your hand is closed into a fist the stronger your grip will be. If the grip is too big you may be weak without even realizing it. Although a smaller grip eats into the handle more easily, most riders will be stronger on a grip that is smaller. Bigger grips won't wear on the hands as much but you won't be able to hold on as strongly either. Find your happy medium between comfort & strength.
