10 Ways Not to Get Invited Back Next Season

10 Ways
  1. Before getting into the boat, walk through water, then sand & then do a 180 as you step on the gunnels, across the seats & into their boat. This adds "character" to the interior.
  2. Bring food. Don't worry if you drop any in the boat. Wet food adds a nice texture to the carpet. Plus if you don't leave food for the bugs, how will they survive?
  3. Don't bring gas – it's expensive, hard to carry and smells bad.
  4. Never offer gas money either. It can be very insulting to the owner of the boat to insinuate that he needs money. He must be rich; after all, he has a boat, right?
  5. When you are ready to ride, go to the back of the boat, put your board on & then ask the people in the boat if they have seen your vest & gloves.
  6. Every time the boat comes back after you fall say "one more." Start saying this about halfway through your set so the next person can put on their equipment.
  7. Take your time. Everyone loves to watch you ride. An hour is standard.
  8. After your set, get back in to the boat quickly to bring as much water into the cockpit as possible. It’s a boat! They are designed to get wet.
  9. Catch up on the week's gossip so that the driver is so distracted that there is no way that the rider can possibly get a steady speed or a straight path.
  10. When you are done riding, ask if you can be dropped off on shore because you have other things you need to do. Most boat owners love to clean their boats themselves. It's a great source of pride.
